Lydia's Speakers

This blog is going to document the building of Aunt Lydia's surround sound. My goal is to build something VERY nice for a good price. The System will use 2 of Wayne's "Morel-Peerless'" in the front, 2 of his "Dayton Home Theatre" surrounds in the back, and A Quatro 10 / Dayton 240w sub.

A nicer picture

Doing the black was tough, I mean geeze every little blurb jumps out at you. I wanted to keep the grain showing through the solid color so I used one coat of oil base black and multiple coats of satin clear.

Trimming the box edjes...

I've been holding off on my order because the sub I was going to get is out of stock. Since I'm not sure when It'll be in, I've decided to build one. If I use the 10inch Quatro driver I should be able to get enough veneer out of one 4 x 8 sheet. Now you can look forward to more pictures of MDF ;)

My Parts Express Order (W/O shipping)
The left and right front Channels
When Lydia asked me to build her speakers, she asked for something "small". I was hoping she didn't mean really small... because I hate to build stuff that sucks.
Anyway, I've been very pleased with the "Morel-Peerless" project that I built for Shelli & I. They sound great as a stand-alone stereo pair and also blend nicely with a sub. So I e-mailed Lydia the measurements and got the thumbs up.
The DHT rear surround speakers
I chose the DHT's as the rear surrounds, nice size, nice sound and nice price.
